How do I commission a Mural?
Our artist, who is adept in many different styles of painting, will come to
your home or officer for a free consultation to discuss your ideas for the
project. We welcome any pictures, photos or magazine clippings of images we
can base the design on. We have many reference books on hand for
creative ideas. Digital photos and measurements will be taken of the
space to be decorated and quick sketches may be made.
Next a detailed proposal of the project is submitted by fax or mail.
It will show all supply and labor costs for the project. Upon approval
the proposal is signed and becomes your invoice and contract with Artistic
Brushworks. An initial deposit of 30% of the total is due along with
the signed contract. A detailed color rendering will then be made
incorporating all the elements discussed. This process can take up to
3 weeks.
Any color changes or revisions in design will be discussed and made to
sketch. Upon final approval, a start date will be scheduled for your
custom mural. Should any further revisions be required after the
project has begun, additional fees may be charged.

Do you have
samples I can look at to give me ideas?
Yes, our portfolio has over forty sample boards. We also have idea books (a
personal compilation of magazine and catalog pictures) as well as art &
design books that can be loaned out. Also, based on the client's
description, an original mural design or wall finish can be created
exclusively for them.

How do you charge?
The fee is based on two factors - the total square footage times the number
of steps involved to create the desired finish, plus the cost of materials.
Handpainted furniture and murals are priced according to size of the piece
and amount of detail. Contact us for free estimate.

Can you customize a sample board according to my preferences?
Absolutely. This is part of the process. A sample board will be made
in the client's color palette and desired finish so they can look at it
their room in natural light and incandescent light to be certain of their
selection. There is no extra charge for these samples (except postage)
as long as a work contract is signed.

Do you travel long distance?
Yes. This can be arranged at the client's expense for transportation
and lodging. Job sites over a fifty mile radius of our location would
qualify as long distance.

Do your paint products leave an odor?
In most cases, No. We use water-based, nontoxic products that have
little to no odor. Some texture media have a slight odor that fades
away after curing.

Can a textured finish be removed easily?
Not really. It is very time consuming and messy to sand off heavily
textured surfaces. Be certain that this is something you'll want to
live with for a long time. An option to consider would be a
paint/glaze finish applied to look like texture such as parchment, suede,
rag rolling, sponging, color washes or a dry brushed effect. When you
need a change, just paint over it.

Can you remove existing wallpaper
prior to faux finishing?
No, we do not provide this service. A wallpaper person would be
better suited for this job.

What should I do to to prepare for my
faux project?
Walls need to be in good condition - fill any nail holes or cracks with
drywall compound or paintable caulk. Also furniture should be moved from the wall area.
Pets, children and spectators should not intrude upon the work space.

insurance?
