Carol
Ann Makris has been developing her skills
and knowledge of the art world for the past 30+ years. She studied Fine
Art at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, and completed her
formal education in the Illustration Dept. at Parsons School of
Design, NYC, in 1983. The next seventeen years were spent working as a
staff and freelance illustrator in various design studios in
Manhattan. Her niche was in the giftware industry.
Artistic
Brushworks was established in 2002. Professional training
workshops in all aspects of faux finishing were completed at the
Decorative Finishes Studio and the Faux Effects Studio. In
2008, Carol took
paint techniques in Italy concentrating on the faux fresco technique.
In 2011, Carol took a Trompe L'oeil mural workshop with the renowned
muralists Graham Rust and Ruis Paes.
Carol won the "The most creative use of Faux and Decorative Finish,
Mural, Trompe l'oeil, or Stenciling Application Project" award at
the prestigious
Faucademy
of Decorative Finishing Awards in 2004.
